Certain limitations involving pets and privately owned weapons may apply when crossing the US - Canadian borders.  Your local transportation office can discuss the specifics of your move. Additional automobile insurance may be required, so check with your provider prior to crossing the border. Alaska has much to offer and it will unquestionably broaden your personal and professional horizons. The mountainous Arctic environment provides excellent opportunities for imaginative application in leadership and tactical principles.  Widely dispersed support bases, unique training opportunities and extreme climates will test your skills.  Like many other assignments, you will discover HQ, USAG is a unique company responsible for installation support and outload support operations at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. It is critical that you meet the height and weight requirements of AR 600-9 upon arrival. Participation in a vigorous physical training program will make your transition into the Arctic environment easier. Alaska also provides once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for outdoor activities; hunting, fishing, skiing, winter, and summer sports abound.  The grandeur of this picturesque state is hard to actually believe until you’ve seen it with your own eyes.
